Honoring Mark Rashid for his Contributions to Post 119

Having performed at Listening at the Legion a number of times, Mark approached me about his company, Longs Peak Guitars, becoming a sponsor. Mark offered to build us a custom acoustic electric guitar, specifically designed for American Legion Post 119, a $4,800 value, to be used in fundraising.
Most of you know the rest of the story. We conducted a raffle, selling tickets for the past three months. The high demand for Mark’s guitar, combined with the generosity of the community towards American Legion Post 119, resulted in nearly $9,000 being raised in the name of Listening at the Legion for our Post!! THANK YOU MARK!
And now for page 2… that money did not even slow up as it came into our hands. Owing to this raffle, and the success of other gaming programs such as bingo night and Queen of Hearts, our Post Executive Board recently unanimously agreed that the true benefactor of the community’s generosity ought to be the community itself. And so it was… $3,500 to Estes Park’s Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Girl Scouts. $1,500 to Oscar Mike (which is code for On the Move), a program supporting disabled veterans through adventure programs in our mountains. $1,000 each to The Learning Center and EVIICS. $500 to Bright Christmas. And finally, approximately $3,500 to Crossroads, a low income assistance center that can certainly use the help during this holiday season.
So Thank You Mark! And all of you in the community who have been supporting Listening at the Legion, and our Post, throughout the years. When we come together, we can make a difference! And when we come to together in music, lives everywhere are brightened! Mostly our own… Happy Holidays.
