This month’s Spotlight shines on LATL Sponsors Dr. Randy Maharry and Judy Brannon. Randy and Judy have been generous supporters of Listening at the Legion for several years. You will often see them at our events, usually accompanied by friends, and they are always among the first to volunteer with setup and cleanup. Additionally, Randy serves as the Vice Commander of American Legion Post 119.
Dr. Randy Maharry Day was May 16
Governor Jared Polis recently honored Randy by naming May 16 “Dr. Randy Maharry Day” in Colorado, recognizing his extensive community service through the Village Thrift Shop which Randy helped open in 2016. Village Thrift Shop served Estes Park for a decade, during which the organization raised and distributed 1.7 million dollars to local charities. Governor Polis’ official proclamation celebrated his dedication to public health, community service, and medical education.
Dr. Maharry served as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1970. After his tour was complete, he returned to his home state of Iowa where he served the community of Des Moines as a dermatologist. After moving to Estes Park, Randy practiced medicine for approximately 15 years at Salud Family Health Centers, providing care to many residents who otherwise lacked access to healthcare.
